The Untold Story About Sally Kern PDF Print E-mail

by Stephen Black and Chris Morrison from First Stone Ministries

The Untold Story of Irony

Washington’s political gay elitists with the Victory Fund edited Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern’s comments from a closed door meeting given in a January speech of this year. They edited down the comments to what they considered the most inflammatory sound bites. Their cunning plan was to upload the edited comments to YouTube in hopes of enraging gay people and their supporters. This plan, they thought, would further the “Victory Fund” gay political cause and bring in funds for their political machine. Over and over they emphasize that Rep. Kern’s speech demonstrated hatred towards gays. What they failed to mention – or include in the sound bites – is the truth, that Rep. Sally Kern said we must love the homosexual. Her message was not about bashing gays. The main stream liberal media outlets who seem to be unconcerned about what was been left out, and unmotivated to seek the whole story, responded predictably. They thrive on bad news and smear tactics of conservatives, so they picked up the story immediately and replayed the inflammatory comments. The story was worldwide overnight! Sally Kern was labeled hateful, bigoted, anti-gay, an evil homophobe and so many other names that are so vile, I cannot repeat.

Help, My Roommate's Gay PDF Print E-mail

"I'm gay..."

Your heart is racing. You're not sure what to think. You feel a little uneasy, maybe a lot. Your roommate has just made clear to you what you had already thought; maybe you had no idea at all. You are no longer wondering what's up with your roommate, but now you're wondering how you are going to deal with his or her homosexuality. Time seems to stand still for just a moment as you look into each others eyes, both wondering what your reaction will be.

It could just as easily be your office mate. Maybe instead of, "I'm gay," this person with whom you spend so much time in such close quarters has said instead, "I'm bisexual." Maybe someone else had already told you; maybe everybody else seems to have known already. Maybe you're thinking about what this means for your relationship, or for your reputation. But right now you have someone before you who's revealed something so personal and important that you must respond. What do you say? What do you do?

Seven Things I Wish Pro-Gay People Would Admit PDF Print E-mail

by Bob Davies

1. I wish they would admit that many people are not happy with their homosexuality or lesbianism, and that this conflict is internal, based on legitimate, intelligent religious and moral convictions--not just the result of a so-called "homophobic" society which is forcing guilt upon people who don't conform to a heterosexual ethic.

Stop throwing out the cheap, inaccurate labels like "internalized homophobia" to explain our motivations.

2. I wish they would acknowledge that homosexuals and lesbians can experience significant change in their sexual feelings and desires, even though they may never be totally heterosexual in their sexual thoughts and feelings.

Be honest enough to admit that such change is significant and genuine, even if it isn't complete.

Still Struggling with Same-Sex Attraction PDF Print E-mail

by Mike Ensley

There are many powerful stories out there about men and women whom God has delivered from the gay lifestyle. It touches the heart and certainly glorifies God when we see these people getting married and leading godly lives free of homosexuality.

But in all honesty, what about the rest of us who deal with this issue and haven't come to our "happy ending" yet? What about those of us who continue to struggle with same-sex attraction (SSA), even after choosing to follow Christ? We're caught in a sort of identity limbo, unsure whether we can or even should hope to experience heterosexual desire, get married and start a family someday.

The Overthrow of Straight America PDF Print E-mail

by Steve Gallagher

“All churches who condemn us will be closed,” boasted Michael Swift in a February 1987 issue of the Gay Community News. He went on to write, “We shall sodomize your sons.... We shall seduce them in your schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in your locker rooms, in your sports arenas, in your seminaries, in your youth groups…”

Brokeback Mountain Brokenness PDF Print E-mail

by Stephen Black

This is a difficult article to write as I have lived my own version of Brokeback Mountain. It was in 1982.  It was mischievous, deceptive, sinfully alluring, shameful, painful and not without huge consequences to my life and also for the man with whom I was involved. Our families were deeply hurt and continue to deal with the shame of our choices from over 24 years ago. Therefore, I am compelled to speak up about this movie, because it does not have to be this way; there is another WAY.

Why They Fall PDF Print E-mail

by Stephen Black

The first week of November 2006 our nation was hit with a scandal in the headlines concerning the fall of a prominent Christian leader.  I know this man’s work and was grieved deeply, as I have visited his church. Many participants and friends of our ministry have asked “why?”  Since the scandal involved homosexuality, the questions started coming our way.  While I was in Mexico City the scandal was made public. My first thought was for his devastated wife and children, then my thoughts went to the Church. Understanding it will take years to recover, I hit the floor!  Broken, weeping and praying for this family, I realized that I, or any of my colleagues in Christian leadership, could be a fallen leader if it were not for the grace of God. I understand you may be shocked to read that statement so let me elaborate.  The harsh truth is that many leaders are unwilling to admit their potential weakness and vulnerability to a specific sin outside the grace of God.  Therefore, I write this article in the fear of God not criticizing Ted Haggard; but on the contrary, I write weeping with those who are broken.  Any criticism that I might have is for the broken belief system that is pervasive in the Church at large.

Walking Out of Homosexuality PDF Print E-mail

by Joe Hallett

What I remember most from my childhood is a deep hunger to be loved. My father ruled our home with a tyrannical self-interest, and I was the frequent target of his bitter sarcasm. No matter how I tried to please him, nothing I ever did was good enough.

Gradually I began to look to other men for love.
